Calculate a Route and Its Distance

Get the route between two addresses by car, bike, on foot or by public transport — with the total distance and travel time shown on the map.

Enter a start and a destination, choose how you want to travel, and the route is drawn on the map together with the distance and the estimated journey time. You can swap the two points with one click to see the way back.

The distance shown follows the actual roads or paths for your chosen mode, so it is usually longer than the straight-line distance. Car, bike, walking and transit can each take different streets, so their distances and times differ — pick the one that matches your trip.

You can use full postal addresses, place names or raw GPS coordinates for either point. It’s free and works in the browser with no app to install — useful for planning a drive, estimating a cycling commute or checking how long a walk really takes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a route between two addresses?

Fill in the start and destination fields, pick a travel mode and select “Get route”. The itinerary appears on the map with its distance and duration.

Which travel modes are available?

Driving, cycling, walking and public transport. Each can follow a different path, so the distance and time update when you change the mode.

Is the distance the road distance or the straight line?

It is the distance along the route for your chosen mode (the roads or paths actually taken). For the straight-line distance between two points, use the Distance tool.

Can I use GPS coordinates instead of an address?

Yes. Enter a latitude/longitude pair in either field and the route is calculated to and from those exact points.
